Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

Road Legal is an independent vehicle management and reminder service.

By creating an account or using Road Legal, you agree to these Terms of Use.

Road Legal is currently designed primarily for UK vehicle owners and drivers. Some features rely on UK-specific vehicle information and services.

Road Legal is not affiliated with DVLA, DVSA, any insurer, garage, breakdown provider, finance provider, or government body.

Using Road Legal

Road Legal is designed to help users organise vehicle information, track important dates and manage vehicle-related administration.

Road Legal is a tool only. Users remain responsible for ensuring that their vehicles comply with applicable laws, regulations, insurance requirements, MOT requirements, tax requirements and any other obligations that apply to them.

You are responsible for ensuring that any information you enter into Road Legal is accurate and kept up to date.

No professional advice

Road Legal is designed to help users organise vehicle information and important dates.

Road Legal does not provide legal advice, insurance advice, financial advice, vehicle maintenance advice, professional advice, or any other regulated advice.

Users should make their own decisions and seek appropriate professional guidance where necessary.

Third-party information

Road Legal may obtain vehicle-related information from third-party sources, including official and public vehicle information services.

While we aim to provide useful information, we do not guarantee that third-party information will always be accurate, complete, up to date or available.

Users should verify important information through appropriate official sources where necessary.

Reminders and notifications

Road Legal may provide reminders and notifications relating to vehicle administration and important dates.

While we aim to deliver reminders reliably, we do not guarantee that reminders will always be sent, delivered, received or seen.

Users should not rely solely on Road Legal reminders to meet legal, financial or administrative obligations.

Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for any activity that occurs under your account.

You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' information, interfere with the operation of Road Legal, or use the service for unlawful purposes.

Shared vehicles

Road Legal may allow users to share vehicle information and vehicle administration activities with other users.

Users are responsible for deciding who they share information with and for managing access to shared vehicles.

Users who are granted access to a shared vehicle may be able to view, add, modify or manage information associated with that vehicle, depending on the features available at the time.

Future features and pricing

Road Legal may introduce, modify or remove features over time.

Road Legal is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid features, subscriptions or other pricing arrangements in future. Any charges will be made clear before they apply.

Availability

We aim to make Road Legal available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Road Legal may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, third-party service outages or circumstances beyond our control.

Limitation of liability

Road Legal is provided on an "as available" basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Road Legal and its operators are not responsible for losses, damages, costs, fines, penalties or other consequences arising from:

  • Missed reminders or notifications
  • Incorrect, incomplete or unavailable information
  • Expired MOTs
  • Expired vehicle tax
  • Expired insurance
  • Vehicle defects or maintenance issues
  • User-entered errors
  • Third-party service failures
  • Temporary or permanent service interruptions

Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to Road Legal where we reasonably believe a user is:

  • Misusing the service
  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to information
  • Interfering with the operation of the service
  • Acting in a way that may harm Road Legal or its users

Changes to these Terms

As Road Legal evolves, we may occasionally update these Terms of Use.

The latest version will always be available within the service.
